Land managers and community conservation groups need evidence that nature is recovering, but occasional surveys miss most of what lives on a site. Alauda had to record continuously, name what it hears reliably, and present the results in a way non-specialists trust.
Apalos built the whole stack: a custom PCB and enclosure for the listening post, firmware that streams audio to the cloud, a serverless inference pipeline benchmarking BirdNET against Perch 2.0, and a public site with a live map, station pages and playable, verified recordings.
Listening posts at Syon House, Perivale Wood and other London sites now identify species around the clock, and every detection feeds a public record that estates and conservation groups can explore and cite.
